Early Life and Military Service

Aldo Ray, born Aldo DaRe, was born in 1926 in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, to a family of Italian descent.

He had five brothers and a sister, although only one of them achieved fame in the 1950s as a football player. When he turned 18, Ray volunteered for the army and served in the Navy.
