David elder biography

We announce the demise of former major league baseball player David Elder with great sadness. On September 23, 1975, he was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and spent the majority of his life there.

He was a Georgia Institute of Technology and Booker T. Washington High School alumnus from Pensacola, Florida, and had a successful career before passing away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at the age of 47.

Who Was David Elder?

David Elder started his professional career when he was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1997 amateur draught. He spent four seasons with them before being traded to the Tulsa Drillers in 2001.

He was dealt to the Cleveland Indians on December 18, 2001, for John Rocker, an Oklahoma State teammate.

Elder eventually retired from professional baseball in 2005 after playing for the New Orleans Zephyrs in 2004 and spending three seasons and 81 games with the Indians between 2002 and 2004.
